| End of Seacon Report: | Winscombe Juniors U-14’s season 2009/10 Player’s Player - Ben Weedon Overall a good season coming through early season setbacks in terms of results and loss of players to finish strongly going unbeaten in our last five matches including sides that finished higher up the table. In defence a reorganisation meant Ben Weedon having to go in goals with Guy Coe at centre back. Both players took on the responsibility and improved impressively throughout the season turning in consistent great performances demonstrated by the End of Season Awards. Also in defence Ben Cleaver and Ben Pope could always be counted on to give 100% and never gave their opponents an easy time. Covering both defence and midfield throughout the season James Knight, Olli Rahimi, and Ewan Boddy showed their versatility and willingness to do jobs for the team and in these days of 3-5-2 or 4-2-3-1 etc, good players will increasingly be tasked with specific roles and should take the job as a complement. Midfield regulars Rob Bradley and Harvey Stokes both had good seasons doing a lot of the unseen donkey work in midfield providing the platform for other players to take the limelight but also standing out in their own right though sometimes taken for granted. Also in midfield Kris Gordon came in at the turn of the year and provided a bit more bite, scoring four, as the physical side of the age group becomes more obvious and important to compete on terms. Up front Zack always at training and matches had several great performances leading the line with skill and determination and being rewarded by scoring 18 out of our 44 goals. Also helping out in the goalscoring stakes were Angus with six and Harry four also providing good link up play and some great finishes and skill. Andy Brock and Chris Addison had disrupted seasons due to injury and availability but always gave 100% when given the call. Scott Macleod |
