MANAGERS COMMENTS – Good team performance in the first match of 2008 with the result Weston Crusaders 1- Winscombe 5

End of 2006/07 Report

Following our successful season last year we were promoted to the First Division, and met some much tougher opposition this year.

We won 8, drew 3, lost 5 and finished with a goal difference of +7 with 27 points in a fantastic 4th place! Our final spot was beyond all expectations and en route we were the only team to beat League Champions Nailsea United in the last 3 years!! We also progressed to the semi-final of the Under 14’s League Cup, which is the best cup run for this team.

In May we entered a team in the Portishead 6 aside Tournament which we won, not conceding any goals throughout the tournament, and winning in extra time against Portishead, with George Panayi clinching the winning goal. Thanks to Garry Giles for running the team that day.

End of Season Awards were as follows:

Joint Top Goal Scorers:

Ellis Harper and Jam’hal McMurran

Manager’s Player of the Year:

Bill Cunningham

Player’s Player of the Year:

Bill Cunningham

Clubman of the Year:

Callum Baird

Outstanding Players Award:

George Panayi

Most Improved Player:

Harri Grace

However all the team deserve a mention as the whole team have made a supreme effort throughout the season. They are as follows: Ben Coombes, James Durrans-Paul, Josh Freeman, Kristian Giles, Matt Heal, Chris Howe, Tristan Langford, Daniel Parsons, Chris Redd, Henry Schofield, Fraser Ward.

We are looking forward to another challenging season – but with everyone playing as we know they can we hope for another highly successful year.
