Commentary
The season began well with Winscombe at the top of the league after 6 games. Due to cup commitments and bad weather we only played 6 league games from December to mid March, this combined with injuries and suspensions saw us slide down the league into the relegation places. During this period we reached the quarter final of the County Cup beating Wells City from the Toolstation League on the way.

However, between mid March and the end of the season we won 6, drew 1 and lost 5 of our remaining games. This included winning 3 games which were played in 5 days over the Easter weekend. The relatively good finish the season ensured that we pulled clear of the relegation zone.

Players
A number of players from the U18’s featured in the first team including Evan Day with 23 appearances, Matt Wright with 7 and Rob Harraway with 6. It is hoped that next season more players from this level can be integrated into the first team.

Other players who deserve a mention are Mike Flint with the best strike rate of 5 goals in 15 games, Andy Ware who came up from the reserves to make 22 appearances, Dan Pepworth who accepted management decisions without complaint and Mark Tipler who came into the first team squad and the end of the season.

Certain players let themselves down at times with poor discipline which resulted in a number of suspensions at crucial times during the season. However, it should be mentioned that when vital fixtures needed to be won such as away at Frome Town and Castle Cary the team came together to produce excellent results. The outstanding performance of the season was the 4-1 away win at Glastonbury Town.

Thank You
The management team would like to thank Guy and Darren for providing players for the first team when asked and John and Andy for absorbing the knock on effect that this had on the Colts. Additionally Mark should be thanked and congratulated on a successful season with the Under 18’s. Other thanks go to Merv Brean and Steve Andow for running the line and Sharon Pearce for preparing the food at home games.
