End of Season Report 2009 - 2010
A long season which ended up in us being relegated to Division 4 by one point but which also saw us reach the challenge cup final, unfortunately losing to the league winners.
I realised you find out more about players in a losing team than you do a winning one, players who will fight to turn things around when the chips are down rather than just drop there head and walk away.
As the season went along we came to a point where a third keeper was needed and Matt Geerey stepped up to the plate, for which a big thanks goes to him. It was pleasing to have a number of under 18’s players come into the team, with a lot of them cementing there place in the starting line ups throughout the season, not only within ‘the colts’ but the whole club. Without these players there would not be a ‘colts’ team.
Hopefully a lot of these lads will stay within the club for a long time and try and get themselves into the 1st team, which I feel they have the possibility to do.
A special thanks goes to Karl Lloyd who started the year as my assistant before deciding to live it up in Cefalonia for which I can’t blame him.
Many thanks must go to my assistant Andy Flint for all the work he did for the team as well all the work he does for the club as chairman.
Congratulations to Greg Dover and Jason Wyatt for keeping the first team in the Somerset Premier Division. Also a big well done to Guy Bradford & Steve Barker on there season with the reserves, just missing out on promotion.
Thanks to Hugh Fountain for keeping the pitches in excellent condition throughout the season.
Again thanks to everyone involved with the club over the past season.
