Winscombe AFC
Germany
The Club has close links with TSV Wolkesdorf going back over 25 years.
Wolkesdorf is a small German town, not dissimilar in size to Winscombe, located south of Nuremberg in the Bayern region. In alternate years we visit Wolkesdorf or they come to Winscombe to take part in a week of football tournaments, Friendship matches and to meet players and families on a social basis.
In May this year we had an outstanding trip to Germany. As ever the weather was superb, the football very enjoyable and the friendship exceptional. Great memories were created. Richard & Pat Evans were specially honoured by the German Football Federation for their services to our Friendship and the development of the links between our two Clubs. This was one of the highest honours awarded by the German Football Federation and the first time this had gone to a non-German.
In 2010 it is the German’s turn to visit us. They will be arriving on Saturday 29th May and leave on Friday 4th June. This year their visit coincides with our school holidays including Bank Holiday Monday 31st May, so we have even more time to spend with our friends, both old and new. This will be the 25th exchange visit so be prepared for some fun. Your Committee are already well under way in putting together a very interesting schedule for this historic occasion. Keep your diaries free as it is going to be a great time.

If you would like to get involved this year for the first time or for the 25th time and want to learn more about what will happen we have our ‘potential’ host meeting on Friday 27th November 7.30pm at the Club. If you would like to know more please speak to your Team Manager or give Andy Flint a call. It is great fun and an experience you will never forget.
